Airman Thomas E. Payne, an aviation boatswain's mate (handling) assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68), has his fractured ankle evaluated using a bedside X-ray machine in the newly renovated orthopaedic department at Naval Medical Center San Diego. The renovation was a four-phase, $2.5 million project designed to enhance the clinical experience of each patient.
