Staff Sgt. Louis Karsnia, a cavalry scout from Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Combined Arms Battalion, 136th Infantry Regiment, helps distribute sandbags in Moorhead, Minn., as residents continue to fight flooding from the Red River, March 28, 2009. The Red River continues to rise as a result of rain, and snowmelt and is expected to crest at 43 feet, three feet higher than the current flood record. More than 500 Minnesota National Guard Soldiers and Airmen have been called up to state active duty to assist local authorities with traffic control, security as well as other tasks.
