While many college students travel to Florida for Spring Break, Daytona Beach resident Ronell Balgobin came to Army Support Activity - Dix. A Student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Balgobin, 23, visited the United States Army Reserve Noncommissioned Officer Academy to receive a $500 scholarship. The scholarship is one of 50 awarded each year to Reserve Soldiers and their dependant family members by the Army Reserve Association and the United Services Automobile Association. Balgobin's mother, Sgt. 1st Class Wendy Williams, is a Basic Non-commissioned Officer Course instructor at the United States Army Reserve Non-commissioned Officer Academy. Sgt. Maj. McClinton Brown, deputy commandant of the NCO Academy, left, presented the scholarship to Balgobin, March 8. Balgobin is scheduled to graduate in May 2010, and hopes to be an airline pilot.
