Lt. Gen. Robert Cone, commanding general of III Corps, based out of Fort Hood, Texas, assumed his position as the deputy commanding general of operations for United States Forces - Iraq, and III Corps Soldiers took on their role as the nucleus of that organization during a transfer of authority ceremony March 13 at the Al Faw Palace at Camp Victory, Iraq. III Corps is beginning its scheduled one year deployment to Iraq, its third deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
