160601-N-AX546-094 ANGOVILLE AU PLAIN, France (June 01, 2016) U.S. service members arrive at a church during their tour of the Battle of Carentan, June 1, which was the site where two medics from the 101st Airborne treated wounded soldiers during WWII. More than 380 service members from Europe and affiliated D-Day historical units are participating in the 72nd anniversary as part of Joint Task Force D-Day 72. The Task Force, based in Saint Mere Eglise, France, is supporting local events across Normandy, from May 30 – 6 June , 2016 to commemorate the selfless actions by all the allies on D-Day that continue to resonate 72 years later.
