A recruit from India Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, strikes tires during a modified bayonet assault course at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, June 21. Each set of tires simulates an enemy, which gives the recruits an idea of what it would be like to conduct hand to hand combat. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. India Company is scheduled to graduate July 15.
