PEARL HARBOR (June 24, 2016) Sailors onboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile cruiser USS Shoup (DDG 86) man one of the ship’s .50 caliber machine guns as the ship pulls out of Pearl Harbor and steams past the Republic of Korea ship ROKS Sejung The Great (DDG 991). Shoup is currently underway participating in Exercise Pacific Dragon 2016. Pacific Dragon is a trilateral Ballistic Missile Defense tracking event between the U.S. Navy, Japan Maritime Self Defense Force and Republic of Korea Navy. The biennial exercise focuses on improving tactical and technical coordination among its participants, including the detection, tracing and reporting of ballistic targets.
