    Military policeman and dog handler Lance Cpl. Eric Devine holds on to his improvised explosives device detection dog, Dakota, while veterinarian Army Capt. Michael Bellin treats her wound. Dakota and Devine were patrolling the western edge of Marjah with 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, when the Labrador Retriever suffered a gunshot wound to the hips.
