Heavy rain and dark clouds gave way to sunshine as members of HHD, 174 Infantry Brigade unveiled their unit colors for the first time at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in a brief ceremony, May 3. Capt.Mary K. Jayne, Commander of HHD, directed SFC Robert J. Markowski, HHD Detachment Sergeant, to uncase the colors. This act symbolized the transfer of the headquarters from Fort Drum, NY to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. While the majority of HHD Soldiers remain at Fort Drum, this ceremony represents an important stage in the 174 Infantry Brigade's long awaited transition to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. 174 Infantry Brigade commander Col. Chipper M. Lewis presided over the event and spoke to the Soldiers in attendance about the hard work and dedication needed to successfully bring all members of the 174 Infantry Brigade, Soldiers and families, to their new home in 2011.
