North Carolina Army National Guard soldiers anxiously wait in line outside the Mobile Kitchen Trailers (Salt and Pepper Café) for evening “chow” at the Logistics Support Area Forward Operating Base Santa Fe, Fort Irwin, California during the 16-07 National Training Center (NTC) rotation on June 19, 2016. The MKT uses a four-man crew to set up and if doubled can serve over 500 meals per day. The NTC is a training facility designed to simulate real-life combat scenarios testing warriors’ readiness utilizing their military occupational specialty in a high-up-tempo environment.
