ARABIAN GULF (Aug. 15, 2016) From left rear to right, the U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyer USS Stout (DDG 55), rear, the U.S. Coast Guard Island-class patrol cutters USCGC Wrangell (WPB 1332) and USCGC Monomoy (WPB 1326), the Iraqi navy Al Basra-class offshore support vessel Al Basra (OSV 401), the U.S. Navy Cyclone-class coastal patrol ship USS Monsoon (PC 4) and the Iraqi navy Swift Boat (P-311) transit in formation as part of a Commander, Task Force 55 bilateral exercise. The U.S. participates in bilateral exercises with partner nations routinely to build and strengthen interoperability throughout the region. Commander, Task Force 55 controls surface forces including U.S. Navy patrol crafts and U.S. Coast Guard patrol boats throughout the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
