160822-N-XP344-049 U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Aug. 22, 2016) The "Mad Foxes" of Patrol Squadron (VP) 5 and the P-8A Poseidon aircraft, assigned to the squadron, are part of the Navy's replacement platform for the P-3C. The P-8A Poseidon is a modified Boeing 737-800ERX, designed to secure the Navy's future in long-range maritime patrol capability, while transforming how the Navy's maritime patrol and reconnaissance force will man, train, operate and deploy.
