MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif (August 2, 2016) 160803-N-UM054-012 MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton staff instructs sailors training for upcoming Special Marine Air-Ground Task Force 17.1 deployment. Staff spent 3 weeks in the Emergency Medicine Department providing patient care as a Shock Trauma Squad team with 1 ER Physician, 1 Physician Assistant, 1-2 Nurses, and 4-6 Corpsman during 11 shifts. In addition to working on trauma skills, they also learned stretcher bearer loading and unloading techniques and driving pointers from EMT trained corpsman. Before training at NHCP they received training in the field at Twenty-nine Palms during certification exercises and Navy Trauma Training Center in Los Angeles.
