160904-N-AC117-148 WATERS SOUTH OF JAPAN (Sept. 4, 2016) Sailors from Air Department perform a foreign-object-debris (FOD) walk down on the flight deck of the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). A FOD walk down removes objects from the flight deck that could pose a danger to aircraft if the debris is sucked into the engines. Ronald Reagan and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5, provide a combat-ready force, which protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
