Sgt. Joel Chuprevich, a fiscal clerk with Headquarters Detachment, 1st Marine Division, stands at attention moments before pinning on his current rank during a combat meritorious promotion ceremony, May 28. Chuprevich, a 29-year-old native of Charlotte, N.C., won a combat meritorious promotion selection board of senior non-commissioned officers. The board judges Marines based on appearance, confidence, and bearing, said Major Floy Yates, the commanding officer of Headquarters Detachment.
