PEARL HARBOR – Col. Sean C. Killeen, the commanding officer of Marine Corps Base Hawaii, and a Mundelein, Ill., native, speaks at the Fisher House Hero and Remembrance Run, Walk or Roll event on Ford Island aboard Pearl Harbor, Sept. 10, 2016. The race consisted of an 8-kilometer-run on Ford Island where the route was adorned with boots and photos of service members, dates of birth and the conflict they were serving in or where they were stationed. The boots were collected from military personnel across Oahu and abroad, and were created to honor the memories and the sacrifices of the military men and women who gave their lives while serving in the armed forces since 9/11. The free event was open to the public and military. (U.S. Marine Corps Photo by Lance Cpl. Jesus Sepulveda Torres)
