AT SEA, Pacific Ocean (September 8, 2016) – Simulated unidentified vessels sail close to the USS Comstock during a defense of amphibious taskforce drill conducted off the coast of San Clemente Island, California, Sept. 8, 2016. The DATF, done in conjunction with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group/11th Marine Expeditionary Unit Certification Exercise, simulates the defensive ship posturing the MKI ARG/MEU will assume while travelling through potentially dangerous waters while deployed.
