A father and daughter look at a World War II-era PBY-5A seaplane at Simard Hall at the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Seaplane Base. The PBY was produced by Consolidated Aircraft in the 1930s and 1940s. The airplane fulfilled an array of maritime operations, including antisubmarine warfare, search and rescue and convoy protection.
