"Today you became a combat veteran. You now share a brotherhood exclusive to the United States Army," said Command Sgt. Maj. Alpheus Haswell. "Today is a special day in your military career and in your personal lives. I'm honored to be here, serving this mission with you,” added Haswell during the unit's Combat Patch Ceremony held on June 1. Haswell is the most senior non-commissioned officer at the 105th Military Police Battalion. The 105th is a National Guard unit from North Carolina. The unit arrived Iraq in April 2010 to take over the responsibilities of the Cropper Detention Facility transfer. The 105th is a subordinate unit to the 49th MP Brigade Tactical Command Post.
