First Lt. Rambo is the nickname for Jamal Udin, a native of Afghanistan, who has defended American soldiers at the front gate of Camp Phoenix for more than eight years. Rambo is a fixture at Camp Phoenix and a hero to the American and coalition forces stationed there. In 2007 Rambo was recognized by former President George W. Bush for preventing a vehicle loaded with explosives from blowing up the front entrance of Camp Phoenix. Fata presented Rambo with the 82nd Airborne combat patch and pin. He was joined at the ceremony by soldiers of the 1-325 Airborne, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division who have been working with Rambo since April 2010.
