Colin Hood, Ronald Reagan's disciplinary officer, uses a telescopic alidade to scan for surface contacts on the navigation bridge of the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Hood was standing watch as the junior officer of the watch, who assists the officer of the deck and junior officer of the deck by relaying communications and reporting contacts. Ronald Reagan, the Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 5 flagship, is on patrol supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
