VILNIUS, Lithuania –Lithuanian and NATO allied Soldiers take part in the Lithuanian Armed Forces Day Parade Nov. 23. The parade celebrated the 98th birthday of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. Lithuania gained its independence on Feb. 16, 1918. On Nov. 23, 1918, less than two weeks after the end of World War I, newly-elected Lithuanian Prime Minister, Augustinas Voldemaras, signed Order No. 1, which formed the armed forces of the newly-independent nation.
