Lance Cpl. Deshawn Flanagan attempts to navigate a course on a tricycle during the National Impaired Driving Prevention Month event at the Goettge Memorial Field House on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Dec. 9. Those participating in the event had the choice of playing corn hole, ride tricycles, or experience the crash sleds all while wearing impairment goggles which mimic the effects of being intoxicated from mind altering substances. The event was hosted by Marine Corps Community Services, promoting awareness of the risks associated with driving while intoxicated, texting or driving with an insufficient amount of sleep. Flanagan is a field artillery Marine with 1st Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment.
