Votive candles burn outside the Church of the Black Madonna in Letnica/Letnice, Kosovo, on the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Aug. 15. Thousands of pilgrims from the Balkans and other parts of Europe, and hundreds of Kosovo Forces, attended Mass outside the church where Mother Teresa received her calling. Among those who represented the U.S. in the pilgrimage
were members of the National Guard from Puerto Rico, Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa and Connecticut, and Army Reservists from Alabama and Louisiana. They are deployed to Kosovo in support of KFOR 13.
