U.S. Soldiers, led by Brig. Gen. Wilton S. Gorske (front left), chief of staff of Kosovo Forces and a member of the Georgia National Guard and Col. Francisco J. Neuman (front right), Ponce, commander of Multinational Battle Group East, and a member of the Puerto Rico National Guard, begin their hike to the Church of the Black Madonna in Letnica/Letnice, Kosovo, to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Aug. 15. The two-mile trek through the Karadak hills was part of a pilgrimage to the church where Mother Teresa received her calling. Most of the U.S. soldiers are from the Puerto Rico National Guard, and they were joined by Reserve Component counterparts from Arkansas, Connecticut, Iowa and Georgia. KFOR soldiers from Austria, Germany, France, Italy and Portugal also participated in the pilgrimage. The troops are deployed to Kosovo in support of KFOR 13.
