Pilgrims participate in the Catholic Sacrament of Communion outside the Church of the Black Madonna in Letnica/Letnice, Kosovo, as part of a Mass celebrating the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Every August, thousands of pilgrims from the Balkans and other areas of Europe journey to the church where Mother Teresa received her calling. Hundreds of Kosovo Forces (KFOR) troops made that same journey Aug. 15, including several dozen U.S. Soldiers. The American troops who participated this year included National Guard Soldiers from Puerto Rico, Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa and Connecticut, and Army Reservists from Alabama and Louisiana. The Soldiers are deployed to Kosovo in support of KFOR 13.
