A recruit from Bravo Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, sprints with ammunition cans during the maneuver under fire portion of the Combat Fitness Test at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Jan. 12. The CFT tests recruits’ upper body strength and endurance by making them lift ammo cans, carry and drag recruits, and run a 880 meter sprint while wearing boots and utilities. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Bravo Company is scheduled to graduate Feb. 3.
