MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII – An Amphibious Assault Vehicle with Combat Assault Company, 3rd Marine Regiment, sits idle after driving through muddy terrain during the 34th Annual ‘Mud Ops’ around the Nu’upia Ponds Wildlife Management Area aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii, March 1, 2017. The MCB Hawaii Environmental Compliance and Protection Department partnered with Combat Assault Company to utilize their AAVs in an effort to fight back against invasive plants and prepare plots of wetlands for local water fowl, but also gives the Marines an opportunity to train.
