Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force soldiers fast rope down from the MV-22B Osprey at Somagahara, Japan, March 9, 2017, during the aerial integration training portion of Forest Light 17-1. Forest Light is designed to maintain readiness and interoperability of JGSD and deployed U.S. Marine Corps forces to ensure an effective and rapid response to any contingency in the region.
