170319-N-FT110-012 BUSAN, Republic of Korea (March 18, 2017) -- (left to right) Rear Adm. Brad Cooper, commander, U.S. Naval Forces Korea, Adm. (ret.) Yu, Sam-nam, Republic of Korea Navy, Marc Knapper, Charge’ d’ Affaires ad interim, U.S. Embassy Seoul, Vice Adm. Jung Jin, Seop, Republic of Korea Fleet, Rear Adm. Jim Kilby, commander, Carrier Strike Group 1 and Capt. Doug Verissimo cut the cake during a Republic of Korea reception aboard aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). The Carl Vinson Strike Group is on a regularly scheduled Western Pacific deployment as part of the U.S. Pacific Fleet-led initiative to extend the command and control functions of U.S. 3rd Fleet.
