PACIFIC OCEAN (March 18, 2017) Aviation Machinist's Mate 1st Class Michael Partridge, a native of Topeka, Kan., and Aviation Machinist's Mate 3rd Class Ryan Burke, a native of Pinoñ, Calif., perform maintenance on an F/A-18E Super Hornet, from the "Argonauts" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 147, in the hangar bay of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68). Nimitz is currently underway conducting Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX) with the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group in preparation for an upcoming deployment. COMPTUEX tests a carrier strike group's mission-readiness and ability to perform as an integrated unit through simulated real-world scenarios.
