    BALTIMORE, Md. (Sept. 18, 2016) - Karen Wingeart - the 2016 Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Women Moving Forward Award winner - is pictured at Swim Across America where she swam to raise funds in support of the fight against cancer. NAVSEA Commander Vice Adm. Thomas Moore announced Wingeart as the award winner in an April 2017 communiqué to NAVSEA employees based at Navy warfare centers and shipyards across the country. The Women Moving Forward award recognizes the contributions of individuals who promote equal opportunity in the workforce and continually make significant positive impacts to the command's mission and readiness. Wingeart - a the Navy's expert on Cooperative Engagement Capability systems for Ship Self-Defense Systems - has been a part of the Swim Across America Open water Swim in Baltimore for five years.
