Airman 1st Class Joe Pearson, a crew chief with the 421st Fighter Wing from Hill Air Force Base, Utah, stands on the flight line in front of his F-16 Fighting Falcon, April 28, at Albacete Air Base, Spain.
The Fighter Squadrons from the 388th FW and Reserve 419th FW are deployed to participate in flying training with other NATO allied air forces. This Joint training’s focus is to prepare flight leaders to become coalition air force mission commanders and receive hands-on training in tactical air operations to develop international air expertise with our NATO allies.
The 466th Fighter Squadron from the 419th Fighter Wing is an Air Force Reserve unit, and the 421st Fighter Squadron, 388th Fighter Wing work together as one total force alongside ten other nations during the Tactical Leadership Programme.
Although Pearson is from the 421st FS, he is assigned to an F-16 from the 466th FS. Both active duty and Citizen Airmen work together to keep Hill’s jets flying at full capacity and ensure the U.S. Air Force is ready to take action at a moments notice.
