Soldiers from the Missouri Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 138th Infantry Regiment based out of Kansas City, Mo., linked up with the 26th Infantry Regiment, Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force, during a training exercise in northern Japan in early November. Mortar fire training was one of many exercises the nations collaborated on during the operation. Similar training between U.S. and Japanese soldiers has been taking place for 13 years enforcing a 50-year old security agreement between the two allies.
