Our Community Salutes, a not-for-profit organization, hosted it's yearly induction ceremony in Patchogue, N.Y. to honor high school seniors who have recently enlisted into the military. Maj. Gen. Troy D. Kok, commanding general of the U.S. Army Reserve's 99th Regional Support Command, presents Samantha Braband, who has enlisted in the Navy, a challenge coin. In the background stands event organizer Bob Vecchio. Vecchio is chairman of Our Community Salutes Brookhaven Town Chapter and is also the president of the Board of Education for the William Floyd school district of Suffolk County, N.Y.
