170713-N-YG104-046 TOWNSHEND ISLAND, Australia (July 13, 2017) Marines, assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), drive amphibious assault vehicles (AAV) off of a landing craft air cushion (LCAC) vehicle, assigned to Naval Beach Unit (NBU) 7, as part of a large-scale amphibious assault during Talisman Saber 17. The AAVs, launched from the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48), enabled movement of the 31st MEU forces and equipment ashore in order for the MEU to complete mission objectives in tandem with Australian counterparts.
