A member of the South African Navy’s Maritime Reaction Squadron (MRS) talks to and builds comraderie with U.S. Marines during a break in training classes as part of Shared Accord 17 (SA17) at South African Army Combat Training Center, Lohatla, South Africa, July 17, 2017. In the coming days, members of the MRS and U.S. Marines will form integrated units, building interoperability as they learn each others techniques, tactics, and procedures. SA17 is a Joint bi-lateral Field Training Exercise with our South African partners focused on Peace Keeping Operations designed to exercise participants’ capability and capacity to conduct African Union / United Nations mandated Peace Keeping Operations.
