Lance Cpl. Nicholas E. Hauser, a rifleman with Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, provides security for the other members of his fire team while patrolling through a mock Afghan village. The patrol took place on Camp Pendleton, Calif., Jan. 11-12, as part of infantry immersion training for intermediate location as the reserve infantry battalion prepares for a scheduled deployment to Afghanistan.
