BREMERTON, Washington (Aug. 8, 2017) Boatswain's Mate Seaman Marvin Gaston, left, from Montgomery, Alabama, and Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class Nicholas Kemp, from Pensacola, Florida, practice line handling with one of USS John C. Stennis' (CVN 74) main mooring lines, which secures the ship to the pier, on the ship's fantail during a fast cruise. Security badges were blurred for the protection of personally identifiable information. For fast cruise, the ship’s crew simulates being underway to train for the ship’s upcoming sea trials. John C. Stennis is conducting a planned incremental availability (PIA) at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, during which the ship is undergoing scheduled maintenance and upgrades.
