The Parks Reserve Forces Training Area Garrison Command and staff conducted a emergency management exercise replicating a wildfire on the PRFTA training Areas.
The training exercise test the team’s ability to react to emergencies
using a fire scenario with an emphasis on staff coordination within PRFTA as well as agencies outside the gate. Also, the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) reacted to an event based scenarios ranging from traffic jams, lost family members, and irate citizens demanding information.
"All of it is designed to show our weaknesses and strengths," said Lt. Col Gerald Hall, Garrison Commanding Officer of Parks Reserve Forces Training Area. Further, he said, "We have a responsibility to ensure our Soldiers are safe if this ever happens here."
The EOC staff consists of the representatives from Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security; Department of Public Works, Logistics Readiness Center, Human Resources, Army Community Services, Emergency Services as well as a representative from the Red Cross.
The exercise also tested equipment to ensure operability during emergencies.
