Spc. Nyan Prater, a preventive medicine specialist assigned to Company C, 27th Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Advise and Assist Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, tests a water sample Feb. 12. Prater, a native of San Diego, limits the spread of disease throughout the brigade by reinforcing sanitation and passing on preventive medicine knowledge to comrades. Joining the Army two years ago, Prater deployed with the "Long Knife" Brigade in support of Operation New Dawn as part of U.S. Division-North in October 2010.
