A total solar eclipse that will be visible across North America from coast to coast for the first time in 38 years is slated to occur, Aug. 21. The rare phenomenon when the sun, moon and Earth perfectly align is predicted to be the most viewed eclipse ever. As of this writing, the best viewing spots for base residents may be south toward Santa Barbara. (Courtesy graphic)
