A 555th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron pilot taxis to the runway in an F-16 Fighting Falcon at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, Aug. 22, 2017. The pilot was embarking on a mission to provide air support and kinetic strike capabilities, fulfilling the primary role of the 555 EFS's F-16 fleet. The F-16, sometimes referred to as the "Viper" is a multi-role fighter used in Afghanistan to provide overwatch and precision weapons employment in support of U.S and NATO coalition troops on the ground.
