170916-N-WH681-009 CARIBBEAN SEA (Sept. 16, 2017) Chief Information Systems Technician Corbett Wilkinson (right) and his son, Hospitalman Ian Wilkinson, pose for a photo after the elder Wilkinson's chief petty officer pinning ceremony in the hangar bay of the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3). Hospitalman Wilkinson is temporarily assigned to Kearsarge from pre-commissioning unit USS Paul Ignatius (DDG 117) and pinned on his father's anchors during the ceremony. Kearsarge is assisting with relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. The Department of Defense is supporting FEMA, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Irma to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
