PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 18, 2017) Sailors assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) recover Marines assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU) on a combat rubber raiding craft in the ship’s well deck during an amphibious maritime warfare exercise. The exercise aims to enhance the interoperability and amphibious maritime capabilities of the Bonhomme Richard and 31st MEU through a multitude of well deck evolutions. Bonhomme Richard is the flagship of its expeditionary strike group, which is operating in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to enhance partnerships and be a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
