Command Sgt. Maj. James House, Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, I Corps, pins the Chaplain Corps branch insignia on Sgt. Natasha Manning-Redmond’s uniform, during a military occupational specialty name change ceremony at the Lewis Main Chapel, on Joint Base Lewis McChord Oct. 4, 2017. The ceremony was held to recognize the renaming of the Chaplain Assistant (56M) MOS to Religious Affairs Specialist/Noncommissioned Officer. Twenty-nine of the 73 Religious Affairs specialists and NCOs from across JBLM took part in the ceremony and had a mentor, chaplain or family member re-pin their branch insignia to their Army Service Uniform to signify the change. The name change is reflective of the Chaplain Corps’ commitment to providing its enlisted Soldiers with the education and training appropriate to the roles they are already asked to fill.
