Marines assigned to the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit make their way up the ramp aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Whidbey Island. The 22nd MEU is embarked aboard the ship to support U.S. and international efforts off the coast of Libya. The ship is deployed as part of USS Bataan Amphibious Ready Group which deployed ahead of its original schedule in order to relieve units from the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group in the Mediterranean Sea.
