U.S. Marine Cpl. Travis A. Carlson and Cpl. Tristan Schneider, both scout snipers with Battalion Landing Team, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, prepare an M40A6 for a live fire range during exercise KAMANDAG at Colonel Ernesto P. Ravina Air Base, Philippines, Oct. 8, 2017. Elements of the 31st MEU are currently supporting the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, participating in exercise KAMANDAG. Bilateral exercises such as KAMANDAG increase the ability of the United States and the Philippines to rapidly respond and work together during real world terrorist or humanitarian crises, in order to accomplish the mission, support the local population and help mitigate human suffering. Carlson is a native of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and Schneider is a native of Riverbank, California. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Christian J. Lopez)
