ARABIAN GULF (July 18, 2017) Seaman Shane Tatu, assigned to the guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Erie (CG 70), watches two Coastal Patrol Ships (PC) as they follow the Lake Erie in formation during a 3-day test and proficiency fire of the Griffin Missile Systems aboard 5 PC’s assigned to Coastal Patrol Squadron (PCRON) 1 in the Arabian Gulf. Lake Erie is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners, and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
