Marco Robledo, a disabled combat veteran and federal employee working at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock in West Bethesda, Md., Oct. 12, 2017, poses with his service dog, Chuck Diesel. Robledo was wounded by an improvised explosive device while deployed to Iraq as a combat engineer with the National Guard in 2007. After he rehabilitated from his injuries, he followed a mentor's advice and applied to work at Carderock as a contract specialist. He spoke about being grateful for his fellow Soldiers who saved his life and for overcoming his challenges and making a good life for himself following his upbringing by struggling migrant workers.
